There is much turmoil in the process of my painting. Friction and conflict begin once a mark is made. No preconception or sketch to work from. No statement to convey. No lust for result. My target. Emotion. The human condition. Man's violent nature and his persistence in being is what inspires me to paint. Art makes our world bigger. Painting helps me to recognize my place in it. Mysterious invisible forces play a part in all creation. Color and ideas form themselves without guidance. Shapes shift, an eye is drawn, a figure appears without sound. A painting begins with no fear of becoming unique. Godlike. Painting is a way to give emotion form and trap it. It is also a way to exorcize these bothersome no bodies. To transmute that which is unseen into that which now is. This is the fault of the matter. This is the beginning of unforeseen problems. Problems are of great importance to the painter.
